A Couple of Things That Are Not Original
I believe in the maxim of keeping it simple. The simplest things usually make the most sense and are of most use in understanding the unknown. I didn't know that the KISS principle came about many years ago........
Ockham’s Razor
Given a choice between two explanations, choose the simplest -- the explanation which requires the fewest assumptions. The medieval rule of parsimony, or principle of economy, frequently used by Ockham came to be known as Ockham's razor. The rule, which said that plurality should not be assumed without necessity (or, in modern English, keep it simple, stupid), was used to eliminate many pseudo-explanatory entities ... citing Christopher John Francis Boone age 15 ...."entia non sunt multiplicandra praeter necessitatem" ; and
watching CSI the other day, I thought of Kevin Bacon, 7 Degrees of Separation, and what a small world it is and then found out that the idea wasn't new either.....
Veneziano's Theory
Veneziano's theory is that everything and everyone is somehow connected. I think also of thehe "Butterfly Effect". In a paper in 1963 given to the New York Academy of Sciences Lorenz remarks, "One meteorologist remarked that if the theory were correct, one flap of a seagull's wings would be enough to alter the course of the weather forever." By the time of his talk at the December 1972 meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C. the sea gull had evolved into the more poetic butterfly - the title of his talk was predictability. "Does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil set off a Tornado in Texas?". And all of this was before Ashton's movie.............
